BNPL Market

The fintech companies behind BNPL services have been around for over a decade, but have become much more popular since COVID and the rise of e-commerce.

The numbers regarding the global market size and the annual growth rate are very conflicting, but they are in the billions of dollars with double-digit growth YoY.

This growth is caused by increasing consumer adoption among younger demographics and the integration of BNPL services into e-commerce platforms.

BNPL services are a huge threat to traditional credit card companies. Due to a shift in consumer behavior, they risk losing some of their revenue. As the number of BNPL consumers increases yearly, this service also expands into new sectors like healthcare and travel.

North America dominates the market, accounting for about 30% of global sales. Asia Pacific is emerging as the fastest-growing market.

Traditional banks in the US, Canada, and Europe have offered similar BNPL services to compete with fintech companies and meet growing consumer demand for flexible payment options. Some platforms don’t charge interest if payments are made on time, but late fees and interest rates may apply.
